| Quite often we get email's asking us who everyone in the airport transfers office is so we have put this page up to introduce ourselves as well as our contact details. Unlike many of our competitors we are NOT a faceless company trading on the Internet we welcome personal contact and visitors. and we are quite happy to tell you how it all works here Our Staff(in NO particular order)Personnel Manager and Chief Despatcher![]() He is also the main contact for our drivers if they ever have any problems at all it will be Malcolm that they will be put through to. Malcolm also is responsible for overseeing the despatch of airport transfers to the drivers assigning vehicles to airport transfers and the general smooth running of the days schedules Malcolm can always be reached by email at malc@airporttransfers.biz Normally a customers first contact with us is via our web site once they have read it and digested it the next thing they normally do is to request a quote from us (if the journey isn't covered by our fixed fares) this email will then come directly into the office via one of our 2 leased line internet connections (we have 2 in case of a failure in our connection we also have several dial-up connections available in case of total failure)Once the email arrives here our software then scans it and picks out keywords like the airport destination and vehicle types then it will send out an email giving prices and further booking details. If the software cannot pick out any keywords or it cant understand something in the email or the email isn't on one of our standard forms the software immediately flags the email for Malcs attention. Malc then looks at it and decides where and who it goes to next if its a request for a quote he will look up all the journey details on our extensive database then issue a quote based on the information given If its a Booking then the custom written software detects this and sends the Email direct to Malcolm for him to deal with. Once Malcolm has it he then looks up the database for date of the journey and assignes a vehicle/driver to suit that customers requirement then sends out a confirmation to the customer. The day before the transfer Malcolm will either email or fax the assigned driver with all the customer details and all the transfer details. Every piece of email sent out or received here is archived weekly to a CD-rom and stored for the required 6 months from the date of transfer Our call and despatch center![]() This is our Call and Despatch center its located downstairs from our main offices when you telephone us this is where your call comes into as you can see we use a fully computer controlled despatch and allocation system. Pictured here is alan manning the phones The way we workOur working day is usually 05:30-22:00 GMT but as we are an internet based company dealing with clients from all over world 24 hours a day - 7 days a week the office is manned by someone 24/7 every day of the year the night shift mainly involves dealing with problems or just answering the phones this job is done on a Rota system usually by Malcolm or Alan |
This office is a very busy place on an average week we usually deal with the following
For the TechnofreaksAll the despatching and planning software has been custom written by Woody as has the internal email system. Not content with trying to be as Computer Controlled as we can we don't quite trust them completely so almost everything we do is printed out as paper hard copies via one of our 5 printers (4 ink jet 1 laser) on an average week we generate appx 15000 separate sheets of paper. We also own over 250 domain names all related to our business. A Brief HistoryWe haven't always been called Airporttransfers.biz we were originally called Internet Airport Services but most of the .com domain names relating to our business were purchased by so called "cyber-squatters" hoping to make a quick killing by re-selling to people like us. When the .BIZ name space became available we immediately snapped up the names we needed as we felt the .BIZ name said it all as in airport transfers are our business. The company started way back in 1992 and it started as a very simple idea and all came about because one of the above people (no names mentioned) promised to pick one of the others up from the airport after a holiday in Australia For one reason or another it got forgotten and that person had to catch a cab from the airport at a very expensive price. We all sat down and talked about it and decided we could give a better and cheaper service than other companies did. Since 1992 we have been the market leaders in the UK and we really do lead and all of our competitors follow. here are some of our firsts
Whilst this might all sound very formal we have a happy relaxed working atmosphere and are always playing little jokes and tricks on each other we all work together well and it really is a fun place to work. |
